Amira and the Missing Cookie
A story about the importance of telling the truth.

One sunny morning, little Amira was playing in the kitchen. She saw a cookie jar on the table and couldn’t resist taking a cookie. But as soon as she took it, she heard her mother calling, “Who took a cookie from the jar?”
Amira felt nervous. She thought about hiding it, but then she remembered what the Qur’an teaches: “O you who believe, fear God and speak justly” (Qur’an 33:70). Speaking the truth is important in Islam.
Amira took a deep breath and said, “I did, Mama. I’m sorry.” Her mother smiled and said, “Thank you for telling the truth, Amira. God loves those who are honest.”
Amira felt happy inside. She learned that even if telling the truth feels scary, it is always the right choice. God knows everything, and being honest makes your heart light and strong.
From that day on, Amira remembered to always speak the truth, no matter what.
